Michael is a banking lawyer specialising in real estate finance, with additional expertise in energy finance, acquisition finance and hedging and derivatives matters.


He is a leading advisor to lenders, borrowers and financial institutions on UK real estate-backed financings, with a particular focus on PBSA, BTR, social housing and hotels.


Michael also has significant experience advising on energy and infrastructure finance, across a range of renewable and conventional power assets. He has particular experience in onshore wind, solar and bioenergy projects, advising on complex debt structures supporting their development, acquisition and refinancing.


Dual-qualified in England & Wales and Northern Ireland, Michael advises on transactions nationwide.

  • Advised a UK clearing bank on its £100 million+ financing of a portfolio of retail assets across the UK.

  • Advised an Irish pillar bank on £90 million+ financing in connection with the acquisition of two UK PBSA schemes.

  • Advised a major UK bank on facilities exceeding £82.5 million to a social housing provider.

  • Advised a leading Irish bank on the £60 million refinancing of two UK wind farms with an aggregate generating capacity of 37.5MW.

  • Advised an integrated energy company on a €40 million facility to fund the acquisition of a 60MW wind farm in Southeast Europe.

  • Advised a UK real estate investment group on the €20 million refinancing of a well-known hotel in Ireland.
